Abstract

The total workforce in August 2020 was 2,527 thousand people, an increase of 122 thousand people compared to August 2019. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 1.97 percentage points.

In the last year, the number of unemployed has increased. In August 2020, TPT increased 0.42 percentage points compared to August 2019 to 6.59 percent. Judging from the level of education, the TPT for the SMK level is the highest among other education levels, which is 10.87 percent.

The working population was 2,360 thousand people, an increase of 103 thousand people from August 2019. Business fields that experienced an increase in the percentage of the population working mainly in Other Services (0.61 percentage points), the agricultural sector (0.51 percentage points), and electricity procurement , Gas and Water (0.14 percentage point). Meanwhile, the jobs that experienced a decline were mainly in Government Administration (0.57 percentage points); Education Services (0.52 percentage points); and Construction (0.22 percentage point).

The population who work in informal activities is 1,460 thousand people (61.88 percent). Over the past year (August 2019-August 2020), informal workers increased by 4.76 percentage points.

Based on working hours, in August 2020 the highest percentage was full-time workers (minimum working hours of 35 hours per week) at 53.70 percent, the rest were part-time workers who were divided into two groups, namely part-time workers (30.12 percent) and half unemployed (16.18 percent).
